Since its founding in 2017, Women In Property has steadily evolved from a small network of industry peers into a nationwide not-for-profit organisation connecting and empowering women across all areas of the property sector.

What began as informal catch-ups to share experiences and challenges has grown into a vibrant community representing over 700 members. The group is driven by a clear mission: to enable women to thrive through connection, learning, and shared experiences.

At its core, Women In Property aims to foster an inclusive environment where women can feel supported and inspired. The organisation provides opportunities for members to build strong networks, share knowledge, and gain insights that help advance both their professional and personal growth. According to their mission statement, the goal is to “enable our members to thrive by providing opportunities to learn and grow from unique experiences.”

The organisation’s activities are anchored in five pillars: support, inspire, elevate, inclusive, and celebrate. These principles guide a diverse program of events, content, and initiatives designed to address challenges women face in the property industry while promoting leadership and visibility.

Women In Property also works to elevate the broader industry conversation, pushing for increased female representation at senior levels and tackling issues such as gender bias and workplace inclusivity. By providing informal mentoring opportunities and a platform for members to have a voice, it champions both individual and collective progress.

National board members

A key strength of Women In Property lies in its leadership. The national board is composed of senior professionals from a range of disciplines within the property and media sectors, each bringing expertise and industry insight:

Cara Cunningham, Communications Director, Neue Media
Sarah D’Orazio, Property Marketing Specialist, Studio Caviar
Vanessa Lai, VIC Media Director, Metropolis Agency
Kristine Lee Pratt, Creative & Marketing Director, Riverlee
Whitney McLaren, Director, Clients & Strategy, Deloitte PDS Group
Mei-Ling Billing, Managing Director, Metropolis Agency
Sophie Walsh, Relationship Director, MPA

Their collective experience spans communications, marketing, strategy, media, and client relationships, reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of property development and the wider built environment industry.

Connecting with the broader community

Women In Property’s focus on inclusivity is central to its ongoing impact. The group actively seeks to engage women at all professional levels and across diverse roles, from development and construction to marketing and finance. By building stronger connections among like-minded women and offering a safe platform to share challenges and successes, the organisation has become a key touchpoint for professional growth and community support.

In parallel, Women In Property recognises and celebrates the achievements of its members, providing a forum to highlight success stories and inspire future leaders. This commitment to celebration underpins the group’s ethos of championing women and fostering an environment where they can collectively advance.

Through its leadership, programming, and clear mission, Women In Property continues to shape a more equitable and dynamic property industry in Australia, supporting the next generation of female leaders to thrive.
